From Workflow to App: Introducing App Mode, App Builder, and ComfyHub
Workflow Transformation: Unveiling App Mode, App Builder, and ComfyHub
ComfyUI empowers users seeking precise command over their processes. Rather than relying on simplified controls, it exposes the complete framework—every component, connection, and adjustable setting tailored to individual specifications.
Feedback from numerous users highlighted scenarios where sharing workflows with clients or collaborators proved challenging due to the complexity of node-based systems. This obstacle is now resolved.
We introduce App Mode, App Builder, shareable app URLs, and ComfyHub—an integrated solution for converting ComfyUI workflows into accessible applications.
App Mode
App Mode offers a streamlined interface for executing workflows. Upon activation, the node diagram vanishes, replaced by a focused layout displaying only essential user inputs.
Toggle between modes with one click. Select "Enter App Mode" from the top toolbar. Unconfigured workflows open in App Builder; pre-configured ones display the final application exactly as end-users experience it.
App Mode operates within the same ComfyUI environment, utilizing identical infrastructure and queues. Workflows remain unchanged—only the interface adapts. This ensures all node expansions, model upgrades, or custom enhancements instantly reflect in apps.
App Builder
Configure App Mode layouts via App Builder. Access it using the "Build" option in App Mode or the top toolbar anytime.
The principle is straightforward: designate specific node inputs as application parameters and outputs as results. Non-essential elements stay hidden within the node graph, secured from user access.
For instance, a text-to-image workflow may involve dozens of settings—sampler, steps, CFG—but only three might require exposure. App Builder selects, renames, reorders, or groups these as needed while preserving the workflow’s fixed operations.
Sharing Apps by URL
Completed apps distribute via single URLs. These links encapsulate all necessary details—workflow setup, interface design, and node mappings—enabling recipients to launch the app, execute tasks, and interact seamlessly without node diagrams or local installations (via Comfy Cloud).
ComfyHub
ComfyHub emerges as a dedicated platform for sharing apps and workflows community-wide. It complements the developer-focused Comfy Node Registry by spotlighting finalized creations.
A preview launch showcases select workflows for exploration. For users, ComfyHub accelerates discovery of community-built tools without technical overhead. For creators, it establishes a space to showcase work and cultivate audiences.
Availability
App Mode, App Builder, and URL sharing are accessible on Comfy Cloud and Comfy Local. Local deployments optimize for modern GPUs, including NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT.
ComfyUI’s foundational ethos—user sovereignty—extends through App Mode, bridging creators, end-users, and collaborative innovation.
